Tips for getting the most out of your searches
Here's how to use the Find Help search most effectively.
- Step 1: Geographical Search Criteria - We recommend using Search By County. Click the circle to the left of Search By County, then select the county where you're looking for help from the drop down list.
- Using Search By City or Search By Zip will limit your search to those services physically located in the specified city or Zip code. You'll end up missing anything that serves that city or Zip that's located elsewhere.
- If you do use Search By City, you will get a long list of cities to choose from in a drop down list. Click on the list and start typing the name of the city you're looking for to find it faster.
- Step 2: Term Search Criteria - We suggest using our Term List keywords to perform your search. If you don't find a suitable entry there, type in your own search Term instead. Be as specific as possible (Examples: cancer support group, elder law, veterans benefits). Do not use quotation marks, plus signs, or commas, and please check your spelling.
- Click on Search to get your search results
OR
- Click on More Search Options to give you the options below
- Population Groups - These are descriptions of people, groups, organizations, issues, etc. that may be helpful in narrowing your search results. This should only be used if your search returned too many results.
- Emergency Services - This option will return results for programs designed to help during extreme emergencies and disasters.
Click on the names of the agencies/programs you're interested in to see if they're right for you!
