Income Tax Assistance and Tax Credit Information
What To Take With You
- Social Security card or IRS ITIN card or ITIN letter for all household members
- Picture ID for taxpayer and spouse
- Proof of all income, including W-2 and 1099 forms
- Name, address, and tax ID# of child care provider
- Amount of money paid to child care provider last year
- Account and routing numbers for direct deposit
- Copy of last year's tax return (if available)
- If married filing jointly, both adults must be present to sign the required forms
PLEASE NOTE: Free income tax assistance is for individuals only. Is it not available to people who are self-employed or those who received income from rental properties. It is also not available for businesses of any size. All sites run on a first come, first served basis. Sign ups for assistance are determined by individual Site Hosts or Site Coordinators and the number of people who can be helped depends on the volunteer staffing levels at each site. Busiest times for assistance are early in the tax season (February) and near the tax deadline (mid-April). The filing deadline is midnight Tuesday, April 17, 2012!
Filing Can Pay
Did you earn less than $49,078 last year? You may qualify for several tax credits. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) alone could pay you up to $5,751. You have to file to receive the credit.
