Income Tax Assistance and Tax Credit Information

Get Your Taxes Done FREE

Every January through April, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and AARP Tax-Aide preparers, trained to IRS standards, file your taxes for FREE. Get your refund fast if you e-file and use direct deposit. These services are subject to income eligibility.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

 Helps the following people (varies by site) with income taxes for free:
  • Individuals and families with low to moderate incomes
  • People with disabilities
  • Senior citizens

PLEASE NOTE: Assistance is for individuals only. It is not available for people who are self-employed or those who received income from rental properties nor for businesses of any size. Sites operate as walk-in, by appointment, or both. See individual listings for details.

AARP Tax-Aide

 Helps the following people (varies by site) with income taxes for free:
  • Individuals and families with low to moderate incomes
  • 1-person small business or self-employed (limited)
  • People with disabilities
  • Senior citizens

PLEASE NOTE: Tax-Aide cannot prepare returns involving foreclosures, rental property or farm income. Prior year taxes for 2009, 2010, and 2011 can be prepared by special arrangement. Tax-Aide sites operate as walk-in, by appointment, or both. See individual listings for details.

What To Take With You

PLEASE NOTE: Free income tax assistance is for individuals only. Is it not available to people who are self-employed or those who received income from rental properties. It is also not available for businesses of any size. All sites run on a first come, first served basis. Sign ups for assistance are determined by individual Site Hosts or Site Coordinators and the number of people who can be helped depends on the volunteer staffing levels at each site. Busiest times for assistance are early in the tax season (February) and near the tax deadline (mid-April).
